The Annual JNSA benefit concert supports the more than 400 students and families served at no cost by the Jessye Norman School of the Arts every year through after school and summer art enrichment programming. This year’s concert with Wycliffe Gordon and Friends is a long awaited focus on one of Augusta’s greatest musicians. As the headliner for the JNSA concert and working with JNSA students, Mr. Gordon continues to lift his city and those around him.
The Jessye Norman School of the Arts, (JNSA), fulfills its mission of providing high quality art instruction to students in the CSRA by providing a free after school and summer camp program for more than 400 students each year. In addition, JNSA provides homeschool programming, community classes, public art, private music lessons, offsite outreach programming, and events throughout the year. The Jessye Norman School of the Arts has been serving students and the community since 2003.
One of Augusta’s most influential citizens, Ellis Johnson left this world In January of 2020; only 18 months after the loss of his beloved wife Ann. Few people have had more impact on our community than Ann and Ellis Johnson. Their efforts have supported countless individuals and organizations. Without their support and hard work, The Jessye Norman School of the Arts simply would not exist. We miss them greatly and dedicate this concert to their memory.
