Harry Jacobs Chamber Music Society presents:
Miles Hoffman and The American Chamber Players
Violist Miles Hoffman founded The American Chamber Players in 1985 from a core group of artists of The Library of Congress Summer Chamber Festival. The ensemble performs repertoire ranging from familiar masterpieces to neglected gems to newly commissioned American works. Its fascinating and delightful programs have been as enthusiastically praised as its extraordinary, dynamic performances. Mr. Hoffman may be familiar to Augusta audiences as a frequent commentator on National Public Radio, and also because this will be the third time he has brought the American Chamber Players to the Harry Jacobs Chamber Music Series.
Miles Hoffman, viola
Loren Kitt, clarinet
Joanna Mauer, violin
Stephen Balderson, cello
Sara Stern, flute
Anna Stoytcheva, piano
One had to admire not only the courage of their programming, but also their performances, which were intense, passionate and accurate... The playing of the string players was opulent in tone, uninhibited in expression and driving in rhythm.
