ASU Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble will open with Fanfare and Flourishes by Jim Curnow. Second on the program with be Jan Van der Roost's Puszta, a multi-movement work written in style of Hungarian folk dances. Robert Garofalo's transcription of Renaissance composer Giovanni Gabrieli's Canzon in Echo will follow. Fourth will be Sun Dance, a more modern offering in a lighter style by composer Frank Ticheli. The time honored march by Harry Alford, Purple Carnival, featuring sounds and textures unique to the march style. The Wind Ensemble will then conclude the concert with its offering for the Thanksgiving season, American Barndance by Richard Saucedo.
The Augusta State University Wind Ensemble is the university's premiere wind band. The ensemble performs several times a year on campus. Literature is wide ranging, focusing on original compositions for band with transcriptions of select works.
